Pushing boundaries and exploring the world

Roger Sutton has a little article on the Horn Book blog about allowing children to see films or read books which push their boundaries. He develops it from A.O. Scott’s article in the New York Times about taking his children to see films outside their normal boundaries. In essence I applaud this as I think that children ought to have their boundaries broadened rather than reinforced because they come into contact with other ideas.
