Yatterings

Joseph Conrad, author of Heart of Darkness, has his 150th anniversary today. Although perhaps better known as the film Apocalypse Now, Heart of Darkness is a seminal novel which gave rise to the definition of Clute’s term: cloaca. Its a book that is very much of its time but its exploration in the heart of evil is spot on. Giles Foden has this excellent article discussing him in the Guardian.
