Smart Mobs and Urban Spaces

Nothing directly to do with sf, but somebody dugg this link from Web Urbanist on flash mobs and street art. William Gibson and Cory Doctorow have referred to these in their work and Howard Rheinhold wrote Smart Mobs and the seminal The Virtual Community about the way in which community forms online in ways that we cannot really imagine. I really like the idea of communal spaces being used for communal events and think it ought to be encouraged to make urban spaces look and feel lived in.
