Dark Horse presents on MySpace…
Dark Horse and MySpace have resurrected Dark Horse presents on the communal website. The first show has comics from:
- Sugar Shock, the debut new comic from artist Fábio Moon and Joss Whedon, creator of the popular television shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer
, Angel
, and Firefly
, and author of the highly successful Dark Horse Comics miniseries, Fray
, among others
- The Umbrella Academy by artist Gabriel Bá and Gerard Way, lead singer of the band My Chemical Romance
- Samurai by Ron Marz and Luke Ross
- Comic-Con Murder Mystery by Rick Geary
Whedon and Moon’s Sugar Shock is a great start with a typically sharp dialogue and an intriguing set up for the band - will they be competing in the battle of the bands or just a battle? It sort of reminds me of the Bronze in Buffy and the way that the show always had interesting bands in the background.
The Way/Ba Umbrella Academy is an action-packed adventurette sort of in the Coen brother’s style by way of superheroes. I’ll certainly be looking to give this a go when it ships in September.
Ron Marz’s self contained samurai story is a really well told tale with great art and a breathtaking economic simplicity and Rick Geary’s Comic-Con Murder Mystery is a fun shot which takes an affectionate look at fans and the murder mystery style.
This is a great showcase and will be updated in early September. Definitely a site to bookmark.
