Robot rights
Driving to work this morning, I was listening to the Today programme on Radio Four and they had an article about the movement to consider robot rights as they become more autonomous, such as healthcare and housing.
As one of the commentators points out, this is slightly ludicrous as it doesn’t even consider the practicalities of actual use.
Firstly we need to build robots which are useful in the world. How will these impact on human lives? What place do we have for robots - Noel Sharkey realises a world where robots with water cannon are used to break up demonstrations.
