Moon for Sale - Real-estate prices rocket…

Once again the BBC website has come up trumps with an intriguing article about a real estate agent in the USA who is selling plots of land on the moon. He has made millions out of, what frankly seem to me to be gullible, people.

This sort of reminds me of something Geoff Ryman talked about once: when we’ve finished screwing this planet up, we’ll move into outer space and do it all again to another one.

What gives these idiots the right to treat what could be a precious resource (as well as pretty at night, especially its a blood-coloured moon) for hotels and burger bars? There is even a plan to strip mine it. Its just seems so unbelievable that if you wrote it down as a short story, nobody would buy it for its lunacy.

Update: The Independent among others are running the story that water has been found on a planet called, ironically, Osiris. Will E.T. be taking a bath?
