CSI NY
I’m still not entirely sure what to make of last night’s CSI: New York episode Oedipus Hex. CSI NY did the whole Goth thing as a freaky outsiders thing (yawn) but on reflection something deeper was going on with the episode if you also look at the interaction with Lindsay and the mother of the murdered girl. But I digress; yes CSI starts out with the freaky outsiders but it takes one f the characters as a real person and touches on parents not speaking to kids. So what has that to do with genre? Its rare that the reason why outsiders are ever simple ones such as wanting to fit in, it seems to be either heroic or heinous deeds. There must be some grand narrative rather than a simple reason.
